New work on optimising winter oilseed rape root systems carried out by ADAS has demonstrated that the density of the root system is linked closely to yield and that the use of the triazole fungicide Caramba in the spring had a positive effect on both roots and yields.

A new web-based tool that helps oilseed rape growers to manage their oilseed canopy more effectively and hence helps the crop to reach its potential has been launched by BASF and ADAS. The tool can be found on www.totaloilseedcare.co.uk and is available to farmers and advisors.
